FRANKLIN COUNTY, VA — Officials have reported that two individuals from Rocky Mount lost their lives on Friday in an incident believed to be a murder-suicide. The bodies were located by deputies with lethal gunshot injuries inside a vehicle situated close to the 1400 block of Patti Road. The Franklin County Sheriff's Office arrived at the scene around 9 a.m. following a 911 report about an unresponsive individual in a red Honda SUV. When deputies got there, they found 55-year-old James Randolph Smith and 41-year-old Tina Marie (Brown) Spencer, both residents of the area, who had died from gunshot wounds.
